Introduction :

The only hill station of Rajasthan, crowning at the highest peak of the
Aravali hills at altitude of 1220 meters. It is one of the prettiest
hill stations in the country. Mount Abu was dedicated to Lord Shiva
before it became a Jain Pilgrimage Centre. The biggest draw for Mount
Abu is the Dilwara Jain Temple for its carvings. The hill boasts of a
rich vegetation and thick forest. It stands out like an oasis in arid
environsMount Abu is located in the south-western corner of Rajasthan. It is also
one of the major pilgrimage sites of India for both Hindu as well as
Jain religions. Besides the temples and sites of historical importance,
Mt. Abu is also rich in natural scenic beauties. According to the
folklores, Mt. Abu was also the home of many saints and sages in ancient
times. According to the legends, all the three hundred and thirty
million gods and goddesses of the Hindu pantheon used to visit this holy
mountain. For those who like Walking, Mount Abu has many delightful
walks. |

Air: The nearest airport to Mount Abu is Maharana Pratap Udaipur Airport,
Dabok (Udaipur).
Rail: The nearest railway station is Abu Road situated on Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Ajmer-Jaipur-Delhi
route. From Abu Road one can take a taxi, jeep or bus to Mount Abu
Road: Mount Abu is 223 km from Jodhpur and is connected to all the
major cities in Rajasthan by road. Regular buses and taxis ply on this road. |

In Mount Abu there is also a mini market for Rajasthan handicrafts. Boating
facilities are available at Nakki Lake. There are number of private hotels
and it becomes difficult to get accommodation during the peak season. Nakki
Maal (Nakki Lake Market) is famous area for shopping , tourist can purchase
all famous arts and crafts of rajasthan from here like - Jewellery, fabrics,
wooden articles, gem stones, metal crafts, leather ware etc. |
